A Customised Gransfors Bruks Small forest axe with a Yakasugi Handle.

The handle has been customised using a Japanese Woodburning technique called Sho Sugi Ban, This Yakasugi style was traditionally used on house cladding as it is fire, water and rot / mould resistant due to the layer of charring on the wood.

The handle is burnt, Brushed with a wire brush, A series of finer brushes and then oiled and sanded with wire wool several times to create a stunning blackened handle which is extremely resistant to the elements.

The axe comes shaving sharp and is supplied with the same sheath that Gransfors Bruks supply the axe with along with the Axe Book.
